Substitute rice in rice pudding with Grits instead?

I am craving some rice pudding but I don't have any rice but I do have a lot of Grits that I need to use up. Would grits make a good substitution for rice in rice pudding? Has anyone tried using grits instead and had good results? I am curious to find out. Thanks guys.
